If you are into getting 100% in the logbook, do this first.
Scan his energy blasters.
Scan his first form (the middle ball thing)
Now, shoot his tentacles until all 3 retract. He would seperate himself from the wall.
Scan his second form, if you are into the 100%.
Shoot his pupil, middle, dot, whatever you want to call it. It's sorta obvious when he is now floating around.
After he loses enough health, or enough time passes, he'll go back to the wall. Repeat tentacle shooting. Repeating shooting him.
