I always heard that you double their height at 2.5 years. (30 mo.) My oldest son was 3'1" at 30 months. He is now 6' even and he's 17. I guess he could still grow 2 more inches in the next few years. My husband and I are both 5'7" and our parents and grandparents where all shorter, except for 1 grandpa on hubby's side. He was 5'11".

That is the million dollar question. My first two sons were extremely long at birth, 23" and 24". When they were 2 years old, if you were to double their height they would both be 6-1/2 to 7 ft tall. Also, you can't go by the growth charts. My sons were always off the charts in terms of height (95th+ percentile) until they were 4 years old then their growing slowed down considerably.

The funny thing is now, at 11 and 9 they are the shortest kids in their classes. So there really is no way of knowing. Look at some of the basketball stars and their parents. I'm sure their parents had no idea their sons would be 7 ft tall when they are both well under 6 ft. So only time will tell!

In many baby health books, and doctors offices, you can get growth charts. The charts will tell you what "percentile" your child is in. For example, my daughter is 2 and 36", which places her in the 90th percentile (90 percent of girls her age are shorter than her); she has been consistently in the 90th since birth. Now I can look at the what the 90th percentile is for an 18 year old, which would place her around 5'7". You can do the same to estimate weight.

I heard to double their top at 2 for a girl and a pair of years 4 months for a boy. Having study countless examine an enhanced rule of thumb is that maximum young ones with fall interior ladies, subtract 6" from dad's top, between that and mom's top. Boys, upload 6" to mom's top, between that and pa's top.

in the current issue of baby talk magazine it says this,"you can estimate your baby's adult height. boys: add five inches to your height(mother); add that number to dad's height;divide by 2. girls:subtract five inches from dad's height; add that number to your(mother) height; divide by 2."

there is a school of thought that says if you double their height from age two, it will approximate their full grown height.
