I heard someone say their parents were card carrying republicans.....what does that mean?

Its a "slogan" more then a reality item. Organizations like the republicans, democrats and clubs like the NRA and ACLU use to issue membership cards and members use to say they were "card carrying members" of the xyz organization.

saying your a card carrying republican these days kinda means you vote strictly on political leanings. No matter if you agree or not on what's going on. At least that's what I think it means.

It simply means that they are a registered republican and have an I.D card that allows them into republican functions/parties.

It means that they always vote and when they do they vote for all the Republicans on the ballot, the "straight republican ticket."

The old nickname was "rock-ribbed Republicans."

they will always vote repub no matter what happens.
doesnt matter if they hate the candidate
