To start, walk to anything a mile from your house. As you get used to this, extend it to two miles and so on. Seriously, the average human walks about 4 MPH. Therefore, you can walk a mile in 15 minutes.

Next, turn off your air conditioner. I turn on my AC only 2 hours a day. Then, I keep my house dark. I have a $20 a month electric bill in summer.

Third, stop eating beef. I am not a vegetarian. However, the largest source of green house gases is cow farts. Stop laughing, I am being serious. All of those stomachs are constantly digesting and emitting gases. Cows put out more green house gases than Cars, Industry, or Power Plants. Stop eating cows, demand goes down. No profit, no cows, get it?

Have fun.

Why are you so sure there is such a thing, and furthermore what evidence is there that man is the cause? The earth goes through natural cycles of heating and cooling. The evidence we have (that the average temperature has risen about 1 degree over the past 100 years) is pretty sketchy, don't you think?

Just for the sake of argument let's say that global warming is a man made phenomenon, and the burning of fossil fuel is primary cause. We have already used up about half of the oil reserves on the planet, so burning the other half probably won't make a difference.

Move along, get a life, and worry about something meaningful.

There are so many things you can do that are easy and will save you money too.
Transportation sources account for nearly a third of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. Use public transportation, walk or bicycle. Cut down on car trips and carpool. Buy a fuel efficient car. Maintain proper tire pressure. Drive 55 miles per hour.
Reduce airline trips too.
Buy locally grown produce.
Buy organic. Organic soils capture and store carbon dioxide at much higher levels than soils from conventional farms. If we grew all of our corn and soybeans organically, we’d remove 580 billion pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The production of electricity causes carbon dioxide emissions.
Use less hot water with a low flow shower head. Wash clothes in cold water. Dry clothes on a clothesline instead of a dryer.
Try to run only full loads when using clothes washer and dishwasher and use the energy saving setting, or skip the dry cycle.
Avoid products that come in a lot of packaging.
Recycle.
Plant a tree. Trees use carbon dioxide and release oxygen.
Use compact fluorescent (energy efficient) light bulbs. They produce the same light as ordinary bulbs but only use a fifth of the energy and last eight times longer.
Stop heat escaping by weatherstripping doors and windows.
Replace the filters in your furnace and air conditioners.
Install a programmable thermostat.
Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer
Switch off appliances when they are not in use, and don't leave the television on standby.
When choosing a new appliance, such as a fridge, freezer or washing machine, ask for energy efficient models.
Reduce your meat consumption (cows release methane gas).
Use alternative fuel sources such as solar and wind. There are radios and even a computer that run by turning a crank. The can run for a long time on a little cranking.
Talk to people about this issue. Write to your representatives in government. See "An Inconvenient Truth"

Interesting that others brought up not using hairspray. Aerosol sprays were contributing to the thinning of the protective ozone layer in the atmosphere. The campaign to reduce aerosol use was successful in restoring the ozone layer.

I agree! there's a distinction between man made and evidently going on international warming. The earth is going through a organic substitute. you may say mom nature is having a warm flash, yet like each warm flashes you've temp. fluctuations and we may finally end up with an ice age. This man made crap is only that crap. in case you communicate with a real scientist you'll discover that ozone may be made interior the lab and ozone is made purchase sunshine. the reason we've a hollow interior the ozone over Antartica is that the solar would not shine there interior the wintry climate.Duh. people do no longer analyze. They swallow what's fed them on the information. The scientist that dispute this are silenced and easily the different area is placed obtainable. (thanks Al Gore) imagine imagine.. keep on with the money. Mars is warming too. very last I heard there have been no people, autos, factories on Mars so how do you account for that?

a serious respone to a serious quwestion, alright, quit breathing, breathign produces co2 which is warm when it comes out of your mouth, so if you quit breathign there will be mroe space in the atmosphere for oxygen, plus if you stop breathign your a/c wont be turned on nor will your heat be turned on which will reduce pollutants getting into the air, plus your car wont be driven and you wont use thigns liek hairspray and other chemicals that destroy the earth, so, so combat global warming, simply quit breathing

Why should we combat it?

Whats wrong with change?

if you REALLY want to try to stop it.. kill yourself and get buried in a peat bog. that will really fix your carbon.
