My boyfriend & I have been together for over 10yrs. & I struggle to understand how undesirable it is for him to go out & do something once in a while. We are young & should be enjoying our lives & having fun together. He never wants to do anything. He says that he does, but when it comes time, it's a big fuss. I want to go out. Maybe dinner here or there, or go have a drink & play some pool. Even a movie. It's like pulling teeth. We have a 16mo. daughter & I would like to take her to see different things, ie;the zoo or aquarium, the beach,Disneyland, etc. Yeah, well the only thing he likes to do is go to his friends garage & play his guitar. BORING!!! I have no problem with him doing that, but all the time is no-go! How can I make it so that he wants to be more social & not such a home body? HELP!!!

Try to be understanding in this. I personally have problems with social settings. Once I went to a huge dance, non formal, it was a foam party with my lady and her friend. The situation made me so sick I had to go outside and throw up. Some people just feel unnaturally uncomfortable in some socail situations. Your best bet is to make sure he feels comfortable where you are going, and that he is going to have fun.

BUT...

If it isn't a matter of he's uncomfortable with going out, and he just wants to do what he wants...

You NEED to talk to him about how this is effecting you and your relationship. Let him know how important it is for you two to go out together, and enjoy your lives.

I hope I was some help. Don't let something little like this ruin your relationship.

Thats a tough one you to have been in this habit for a long time. So it will be hard to break. You have to communicate to him how bored you are in the relationship. You might have to be willing to leave him in order for him to change. Maybe you need to go to counciling. Good luck.
