I mean the packaged kind you buy from the grocery store and it's ready to be cooked. I've been craving it really bad lately!! Is it bad for the baby and I?

It's fine if it's the Pillsbury or Nestle types...they use pasturized raw eggs that pose no threat. But steer clear of the kind that is made in specialty shops, sold in catalogs, etc. that may have unpasturized raw eggs. Congrats on your new addition!!

You have the same chance of getting sick from raw cookie dough from the store as you do eating cold lunch meats. The concern here is the raw eggs. With both of these, usually the food is sterilized and then packaged, but sometimes it doesn't happen. There have been recalls for these instances, though usually not until people have been affected by it. If you're eating packaged lunch meat anyway without heating it up first, then go ahead and take the chance with the cookie dough. Just finish the package once it's opened, or if you're saving the rest, bake it instead of eating it raw. Once it's been opened no amount of sterilization before packaging can prevent recontamination.

Probably if it has eggs in it. That is why you should not eat it home-made. Raw eggs can make anyone sick. As long as you dont eat a lot of it I dont think it will hurt you.
Or you may want to try and see if cookie dough ice cream will satisfy your craving.

Nope. Eat it. Some people say the eggs in it are bad for you, but your chances of getting sick are slim, and people eat raw cookie dough all the time.

Congrats on the pregnancy!

If you make homemade cookie dough you can leave the eggs out and it won't effect the taste. The cookies just wouldn't bake right. I'm prego and have been craving it as well, so thats what I've been doing.

Actually if raw eggs are used in it, it will probably have a warning (or at least ingredients listed) on the label about it... Aside from the raw eggs, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
