It's a lot better to realize this now than after the wedding. Who cares if it ruins someone's dreams of getting to the US? There are other ways of getting here than marrying. You are the smart one to realize the problem before it got worse. Hang in there and stay single.

Well, foreigner or not, it is wrong to lead somebody on for that long. Obviously, if he/she was in the relationship that long, they had an obvious devotion and love for the other person..more than likely hoping it would end in marriage. It's just cruel to keep a relationship going for so long just to end it for the sake of ending it.

Maybe its not the best situation but it sure beats getting married when you don't want to. There are other ways to get to live in the US and if she sat around for 3 years and didn't do anything to fix that for herself then thats her problem.

It's not wrong, dating someone, no matter how long, does not obligate you to marry them, no matter what the circumstances.

it's wrong if ur intent was to lead him/her on. but if u just took some time to think and realized that despite ur time together, that marriage wasn't a possibility, then ur not wrong. it may hurt him/her, but they can find other ways to become a resident/citizen.
