The ignition switches in the Focus are known to seize, the tumblers stick in the housing and will not allow the cylinder to turn. I've replaced hundreds of them. One little secret to try, put the key in the switch and hold pressure on it like you are going to turn it on, then with the other hand or another person whom you trust with a hammer, tap on the end of the key, while still trying to turn it, not hard enough to break the plastic end, but a few good taps should do it. This usually works to get it to turn, but this is just to get it to turn to take for repair, because it will stick again. If it will not turn then the only other option is to drill out the tumblers and locking bar so the key cylinder can be replaced.

You may have a bad Ignition Lock Cylinder... Culd be it is sticking.
Other possibilites: Make sure the Steering wheel Lock is not "on" Sometimes when It's locked it will not allow the ignition to Start up; If this is a copy of a key that was made for you, I'd have them re-do the key, could be the tiny little pins inside the tumbler are not matching up with the key itself exactly to where it will allow the vehicle to crank over. These are the more common things that may happen...if all else fails seek a Local Reliable Professional

Well I don't really know but usually when a key won't turn in a lock that means that you have the wrong key!
