Why? I've asked the same question over and over again.
Basically there is no "right" answer to this question. There are so many "reasons" (excuses) why men abuse women the way they do. (In all fairness, I know women can be just as bad.) Anyway, despite what their reasons are, the person being abused is stuck in a situation that can perpetuate itself into a life threatening matter. YOU SEE, THE PROBLEM IS NOT YOU, BUT HIM/HER. No matter what you do there will always a reason for the abuse to start all over again. You will go crazy trying to please someone who doesn't want to be pleased.(been there) They just want another reason to have the POWER AND CONTROL over someone they have managed to isolate and whos self esteem has been stripped of them. The only answer I have for you is DO WHAT YOU CAN TO STAY SAFE. If you plan on leaving, contact someone you trust or an agency that can help you plan a safe escape. And don't kid yourself into thinking that just because he/she doesn't hit you that he/she isnt abusing you. There are many forms of abuse: Physical, Emotional, Fianancial, Sexual, and Spiritual. Ive been in your shoes, and the words sometimes leave deeper wounds than the hitting. Love yourself. You are stronger than you realize and are capable of more than you give yourself credit for. Don't worry so much about "Why?" he/she is doing these things, concentrate on you and what can you do to have the quality of life you deserve. Good Luck.

If your in that situation you need to run to a ptotective shelter and report this to the police, and get a protection order while while you get legal aide on a divorce. Woman and family organizations will help you. Husbands and wifes aren't suppose to beat and harass each oher. It's not suppose to be that way at all. Husband's who beat and harass their wifes have a terrible inferiority complex and are right out mean. YOU/KIDS deserve to Be Happy and live your life in peace and security. Because they realize no one give a **** about them, and so they have to do things that make them feel more powerfull or something. Men that do that are sick and later on will most likely be spending alot of time in prison. Cause as they beat and beat, there emotions and mental problems get stronger and worse and who knows what eles they will or can do. So yeah if your in that kind of situation or know someone that is in that situation get out now!! Trust me it wont get better. I been there done that.

There can't be a GOOD reason, but I expect that in some cases, a man feels that doing so proves his masculinity. Some men are obsessed with exercising control over their surroundings, and haven't learned to control their own actions. Obviously, there is no excuse for this kind of behavior. I believe that boys who grow up in homes where the parents exercise their authority in a kind and loving way are less likely to be abusive when they grow up.

Because they can't control anything so they figure they can controll their wives....... Men that beat on women or punks. They rather beat on a woman than a man. If you're in that situation than by all means get out as soon as possible before it's to late.

Honey, if you are experiencing this: get away from him. You have no idea how worse it gets. Men that do this, do not "fix" themselves, they continue until their spouse either leaves, or in many cases, die.

I've had these monsters locked up for years, and they share one thing in common: they have low esteem, low morales and worse of all, they are horribly afraid of altercations with other men. So they pick on women, children and those that they know they can get away with it. They're keene to pick up the fact that they've found weak spots in their spouses so they manipulate that, they will work it until you are gone, either by your choice or his.

He won't change because he feels like he "has you where he wants you".

I've fought his kind both in court and the halls of my jail, they're cowards when it comes down to it. They talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

If you are part of this, either being harassed mentally or physically call your local Police Dept. get the numbers of the closet Women's Advociate Society, or Social Services and get away from him.

If you love him, have him get counseling but you still need to keep your distance.

Men that abuse their wives, whether physically or verbally have little control and this helps them regain that control in their life. Being abusive gives them a satisfaction of control, an makes them feel good about themselves. They are pathetic weak men!

I just went thru that ordeal and I am really pissed off right now, but I will say this. No man has a right to lay a hand on a female period. I just busted up a guy for doing that.

because they are boys. Real Men do not hit. When boys hit they think it gives them more power. I'd leave the stupid sorry ***. Don't keep taking it because he will keep giving it and it will get worse. there are good men who treasure their wives like a woman should be.
