Utilities go UP in July and August. You live in Texas, very hot in summer. You don't just mean light bill do you, you mean electric bill? That does sound high . . .yes ask for a second reading of your meter and ask others in your building or neighborhood what their bills are. If your bill is much higher and the second reading does not lower your bill, contact the Texas State Public Utility Commission.

You can call the utility company and ask them about it. Ask them for the previous 12 months average to see if there has been a dramatic increase. Also have someone come out to check your meter.
Utilities are on the rise everywhere. My bill is averaging $450 per month.

Good Luck!

CALL THEM do a reading of the meter over the phone, you will have to go out to the meter and read it, but it can save you some loot
