despite being an accomplished driver, 3 tests (1 serious mistake every time) was disheartened this 4th time as i thought it was completely unfair and unjustified, 21 mistakes, as opposed to 9 in the first time when i was totally new.. u are supposed to improve with lessons, i have paid tonnes of money for my lessons and for the re tests.. this guy was a nutcase, my examiner went with methis time to see what i was doing wrong?I was sure id pass, it was the Barnet test center (as opposed to the hendon one) and this guy, who is the most unpleasant examiner i have had.. has given me faults which are totally unjustifiable, wat pissed me is he asked me to slow down on a single carriage way where national speed limit applies, 60 mph, i was under 60 no signsm no curves, sharp bend anywhre and was shocked to see at the end that he had given me a serious fault for that.. my instructor says I dont deserve that report!! am disheartened, have no money to waste, and my confidence leven has sunk!!:O(

The last two-three answers are rubbish. they obviously dont have the experience, nor understood what your situation was. I completely empathize with you. Something similar has happened to me, I appealed at the test center and I was given a refund. Him marking you down for the 60 MPH road is not acceptable, if that was the speed limit, (ref:migelito) if it was unsafe to do 60mph then the area wouldn't have been set at 60mph by the govt. The examiner doesnt have the right to decide what speed limit should an area be. If it is safe and roads are empty, would you go over the speed limit? NO
I know for a fact that they always try to mark u down to prove to their sups how efficient they are and to get more money out of you. They also mark you down if they are having a bad day esp. if your test was taken later in the day. Go really early next time.
(ref:pedro) didnt you READ the whole quetion her instructor says she did not deserve that report, and probably he tells her of her strengths and that's how she knows she is an accomplished driver. u probly dont even know how driving and tests work! so shut up! lol

In your opinion the faults were unjustified, so the examiner is at fault according to you. The examiner is a hell of a lot more qualified than you will ever be they have to be tested every six months. If the examiner gave you 21 mistakes he must have had very good reasons to vgive you so many mistakes..Just because the road says National Speed Limit it does not mean that you have to do the National Spped Limit on that road. if in doubt stick to the 30 MPH speed limit no mater what road you are on. And you know what they say PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. If you was an accomplished driver you would not have been taking your 4th driving test would you.

I wonder maybe, if that is where you are going wrong, because you THINK you are an accomplished driver? If you THINK you are doing everything right, but are in fact doing lots of things wrong... well it's going to come as bit of a shock when you fail to pass the driving test isn't it. As well as learning to drive perhaps you should take a step back for a moment, and recognise that it isn't all as easy as you thought, and analyse your tests, your driving, with an OPEN mind. As far as the 60mph you mentioned, that is a maximum speed limit, doesn't mean you HAVE to do it. Depending on the conditions prevailing at the time any speed UP TO 60mph might be appropriate. That examiner must have felt unsafe/uncomfortable with you at that time I'm guessing. Keep at it, you'll get there :-)

Who told you that you are an accomplished driver? Although the speed limit was 60mph, you should only drive at 60mph if it is safe to do so and that includes if it is within your competence as a driver. You say there were no sharp bends, but what was the weather like? What was the traffic like? It could be that the examiner, who will almost certainly be an accomplished driver and has passed his test, judged that you were driving too fast for the conditions.

Don't give up, my brother took 8 tests before he passed.

Maybe you can just re-apply for a test without having more lesons, or maybe you should change driving instructor?

It took me 4 times to pass mine. I've believe I'm a better driver for it.
Relax, you can take your test again. Ultimately, you'll pass. Everyone passes, no exceptions.
