I know exactly what you mean. I think they are either too lazy or just too full of themselves to give an answer. You don't find anything out if you don't ask and as this is Yahoo Answers this is a good place to ask. I don't mind if somebody offers advice as to where to find further information after giving an answer as long as they've given you an answer in the first place. ( I must get down off my soapbox now!!)

because some questions are so simple and straightforward that in the time it took the person to type a question, they could have looked it up... I always say look it up if somebody asks for a definition of a word, it's just laziness.

Because they don't realise that questions which are easy for them are not easy for others.
Also to score points.
It's also annoying when people answer with 'because you are stupid'. because on a different subject you may know more than they do.
