There is no medicine available on earth that can make a person quit smoking. It is the will power that helps to get rid of bad habit. The God has given tobacco to mankind for medicinal use but the humans have used it for intoxication. Tobacco even in small quantity consumed is bad for health. For example, when you smoke, the smoke is thrown out by the body and it is an indication that the body can not tolerate its contents. Same way, when tobacco is chewed, the person has to spit many times because the body tells the person that I can’t accept because it is bad for my health. Even the animals never ever enter a tobacco field whereas humans have consumes uncounted tons of tobacco since generations. It would be very wise to quit smoking and save lots of money and health. Just imagine the bad news your doctor gives you that you have a cancer. Don't allow this to happen. I gave up the bad habit of smoking seven years ago because I have will power. I enjoy a very healthy life now and save lots of money spent on tobacco products. My family is also very proud of me. Do it once for all. Take care and be in good health.

Yes plan to give up on a certain day and pack it in. If you have the will power to give up smoking then you will do. I gave up 4 years ago just by packing in, no patches no gum, nothing. If you can get through the first two weeks then you have cracked it. Good luck.

I just gave up smoking after having smoked for over 40 years. I had a horrible sore throat and could not smoke for about 4 days. When I began to feel better, I simply told myself "if I can go 4 days, I bet I can go a week". When a week went by, I told myself "I bet I can go two weeks" and so forth. I haven't had a cigarette since Feb 2, 2005. I do still miss it every day, though

Its all a mental game so if you can trick your mind a little you should be able to. First thing you are going to have to do is cut back, slowly have less and less until you are down to about one a day. Then just quit and instead of thinking everytime how much you want a cigarrette, every time you have a craving just think "one more hour and I will, one more hour" the craving will pass eventaully then if you do that everytime you have a higher success rate. Also start saving some of the money you used to buy cigarretts and use it to buy something nice for yourself so you will have a reward for quitting.

My mother gave up smoking after like 10 failed attempts. She had tried gum and stuff like that. The thing that made her give up was deciding that she really wanted to... there is no miracle cure and you will only do it if you 101% want to and are totally sure you can. If even a tiny part of you still wants to smoke this will constantly errode your will power so you need to be completely certain you can and will before yopu start.

My view is that if you enjoy smoking then just keep smoking. Enjoy it. Everyone dies of something, one day.
I gave up after fifteen years of smoking, but I really didn't want to smoke anymore. It stopped being enjoyable, so I found it easy to quit.
If you want to stop smoking, then the cravings can be unpleasant, but there is only one way to give up. You must choose to give up smoking and stick to that choice.
Patches, gum, etc. can help take the edge off, but using your will power is the only way to give up smoking.
If you want to give up smoking then make the decision not to smoke any more cigarettes and stick to it.
No matter how much you want a cigarette, just choose not to smoke.
And, putting all the money that you save in a large jar and watching it grow into a nice stash of cash can help too....
...so, if you don't want to smoke anymore, then give up today. Just smoke one last cigarette (or joint, if you are so inclined) and smoke it like it is your last. Enjoy it and then never smoke another...

Willpower is the only answer, and reminding yourself constantly why you want to give up. The money, cigarettes are so expensive if you are in the UK... the fact that most public places in major countries are now banning smoking, the smell on your hair and clothes, health reasons, aging... need i go on? Most importantly, you have to really want to give up... decide a date asap and do it.... in the first few weeks try and change some of your social habits, dont go out too much in places where everyone is smoking....

statistics prove that overall patches, gum, hypnosis, and whatever other method you may try tend to make no difference. The people who manage to stop often just stop, although some of the above mentioned things can help.
