the sport of athletics is the largest sport in the world. Here in the US we call it track and field. This sport has the largest number of participants each year in the US and world wide. Of course, soccer or futbol in the rest of the world is second.

Soccer/Futbol/Football/Fussball is the largest sport. It unites countries. Gives Respect and Honour for all. yes the sometimes fake injuries to by time. But it the beautiful Game. Legends make it beautiful. A goal brings life to the team that why they celebrate with pride. short shorts WTF no thats irrongant. Its not boring if you know the game. Fans of futbol are so passionate for their teams. Don't watch MLS its a stupid league. Watch UEFA,EPL,EURO CUP,COPA DE AMERICA,and If its possible African Leagues.
Futbol is largest sport and always will be.

With 80% of the world covered in water, I would say fishing would have to be the largest.

Its Soccer, but the rest of the world calls it Football. (Makes sense, really). I dont know why. Its so boring to watch and all the players cry and exagerrate their "injuries" and hug and kiss each other when they score and wear short shorts. Everyone knows the best sport is Arena Football. Not really.
