Don't feel obligated to go to Harvard just because it is Harvard. If you feel uncomfortable or your gut is telling you to stay, then stay. You can always apply for a transfer to Harvard when you feel better about it. You should really make the decision yourself, but take into account how willing you are to leave your friends and family.

If Harvard is offering you a way there and you will not be in huge debt....GO THERE. It is a great opportunity, if you are up to the challenges of a new state, away from family, etc.

If you stay home you may wonder what it would be like if you had left.

Many people get stuck on the idea of having to spend more to go out of state, but how will you have a variety in your life if you stay in the same area you known for your life.

If you are financially able and is mentally ready for a new environment...GO.

I think the answer to your questions depends on so many factors. Is your parent's health good? How much financial aid are you getting from each college? What are you intending on studying? Which school has the best department in that field? Can you or your parents REALLY afford for you to go out of state? After you answer these questions, you will know what you should do.
