Download any of these that you do not have. Update and run them one at a time.

Anti-spyware (all free)

Essential products are: Adaware SE from: http://www.lavasoft.com

Spybot SD http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

Spywareblaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Windows Defender - from Microsoft downloads.

Spycatcher

PC starter kit at download.com 20 of the best recommended programes for people new or less advanced in computers. Check all three pages, at bottom see Security/Tools/Fun

C Cleaner.http://www.ccleaner.com/

This will tell you a lot about what is on your computer, such as running programmes, cookies, History, settings etc. and will help you clean up and remove unwanted items. Be careful how you use it as it is a very powerful programme and you should read the help index before you do anything with it.

Use your AV program instead of the AS programs she lists. The important part is opening the hidden files and folders for your AV to scan and remove parts of or the complete virus from them. Going into Safe Mode alone does not allow access to the hidden files and folders. This why Norton cannot remove it now. Be sure to use one of the Registry Repair Programs when finished removing the Virus. The virus attaches to valid registry entries and it damages them when removed. The program will repair the damage.

i use to have norton but it is not as good as you might think it is... i got something online called stop with the big red stop sign.. and it controls all the virus and infections and gets rid of them.. it also gets rid of worms and trogans...i highly recommend it... i also have a free system for 30 days callled tune up and it does a lot for the computer too... i do not know for sure if i am going to keep it cause it takes up a lot of ram space and i am low on ram space and memory now...and without memory and ram i will not have a computer...i have tried advare to and i did not like it either.. really this stop , big red stop sign is the best i have found so far...

use a friends computer and go to Symantec.com (norton website). They have lists of all viruses and tell you step by step how to get rid of them. Coincidentally, whenever you get those emails telling you about a new virus, check the website too. Mostly they are hoaxes.
