An empty forest would have no trees to fall thus leading us to conclude that the squirrels residing in the trees would not actually be residing int he empty forest. So . . . . squirrels will be OK

If they stay out from under the tree they will but sence they cant hear it theyre probably going to get smashed, therefore they probably wont be okay!

Buuuut an empty forest doesnt have any trees so squirrel, have a nice life.

I agree that most squirrels have retired to the suburbs in Florida, however the ones that have yet to do so should be OK if they stay away from the falling tree.

If it is empty then the squirrels have already left. This reminds me I just saw Elektra the Movie and the scene were she manuevers the tree to smash "Stone" flat is VERY cool. You can find this movie and many others on the second source below.

If the forest is empty, then there is no tree. If there are no trees then there are no squirrels.

Well, you said empty forest, so doesn't that mean all the squirrels are gone anyway?

You cannot "hear" a tree falling untill it squashes our little sqirrely friends, so I would say not unless they get lucky like the divine intervention of squirrels gives it superpowers and he throws it into the river and saves all his little squirrely friends.

It all depends on if the squirrel is feeling suicidal.
