I've been to a few different Hometown Buffets, and they're some of the cleanest buffets I've seen. There seem to be quite a few around Detroit according to mapquest.

There are two unique places north of Detroit.
BD Mongolian restaurant is a buffet, but you take your meat to be cooked on the wok. 310 S Main, Royal Oak
Pampas Brazilian Grille in Birmingham is a Brazilian Churrascarias that is adequate. The buffet is salads and such, the meats are brought to the table and you eat until you burst.
You didn;t ask for cheap, so check their prices first.

You want a clean buffet? They don't exist! And if you're going to a buffet, what are your expectations regarding "service"? You're serving yourself!! Great moods? What's that mean? I've yet to go to a buffet restaurant with romantic lighting or "whatever". They're usually geared towards families and gatherings. You want good moods, then go to a "regular" sit-down restaurant.

Panda Buffet on Orchard Lake Rd. in Farmington Hills, MI

The casino buffets are probably the best. We choose MGM, but if you can get up there the high roller buffet at the Motor City Casino is very nice! The menu is limited but only the best...lobster tail, crab, lamb chops, filet mignon, etc.
