Should you be thinking MSN is better, Yahoo! is much smaller and not so intergrating into the system, so is easier to maintain as a program, but MSN is better as there are occassional updates. Depends on the needs of the user, but with Yahoo! Messenger bragging about being able to read MSN contacts, Yahoo! will have the upper hand with being able to use two networks of friends instead of just one.
Best thing to do is to wait and check back tomorrow, and not to rely on Yahoo! Messenger as a main form of communication.
Completely of topic, the same goes for relying on mobile phones (cellphones) on boats or in planes. They are not reliable due to signal, so best stick to ship to shore radios or VHF radios...
