Keep looking! And be flexible on your choices. like mid week and some of the winter are cheaper.

There are many things that effect bargains, mostly within supply and demand. I think Vegas is coming off a 5 year slow period, so you might have a point. Could be fewer deals. Summer is busy for travel everywhere as it is traditional vacation time. I don't know why people want to spend summer in the dessert.

Yet the last 2 weeks I have seen a wave of cheap packages for the fall. (For me that is flights from Canada.) Flights haven't been cheap as our strong dollar means more Canadians are wanting to travel there, and flights cost more now with fuel costs. So these deals are encouraging.

I have seen several last minute summer weekday hotel bargains too.

I went earlier this year with a buddy. His schedule was not flexible and it cost us an arm and a leg. We had lots of fun though, so I am keeping a flexible eye open for deals too.

The travel portion of the package has gone up, of course. Anything connected to petroleum now costs a lot more. The summer months are the least discounted time for Las Vegas hotels as families must travel during this period.

Which hotels are looking at? There are MANY other hotels that might give you a deal.

Must you travel now? Room prices (and the temperature) will drop after summer. Join the hotel player's club. Not only will you earn points towards comps, but they notify you of their special prices.

Good luck!

I was just in Vegas about a week ago. They are planning on tearing down more hotels to build new bigger expensive ones. I heard that they are going to tear down:

1. Circus Circus
2. Flamingo
3. Stardust
4. Tropicana

And 1 other (I can't remember which they said because I think I had too much to drink! lol) It is cheaper to stay on the weekdays. The new Tahiti Village is a new timeshare place if you want to listen to them sell shares.

Last year 35 MILLION people visited Las Vegas. They sell every room in town every weekend. It's a sellers' market now, so they can charge whatever they want and still fill the place up.
