It just seems to me like Israel was sucker puched and they fell for it. I mean I sympathize that two (?) soldiers were kidnapped, but isn't the reponse a little over the top?? There has to be another, more productive way to address this. This response will just engender more hatred..

All the attacks on Israel have been pinpricks, but Israel's massive overreaction willonly increase support for Islamic extremists.

Are Israel's actions justified? - do they have a just cause?
This is a question, the answers to which will vary greatly according to who is providing the answer. It can never produce an answer that everyone would agree upon. One 'side' will say one thing, and the other 'side' will say the opposite. It is the reason why we suffer wars and conflicts - two (or more) factions failing to negotiate a permanent settlement.
I am of the opinion that No war is justified - whether or not it is necessary is another matter.

The situation is really bigger than just having soldiers kidnapped. Hezbollah is being used like a militia for Iran. A lot of people think Iran wants the US to get involved through Israel so a realy war can start. Israel is doing their thing.

If someone took soldiers from your country I am sure you would feel the same. There is apparently a never ending well of hatred in the world. Over the top, maybe but the Middle East is always over the top all of them

This isn't over two soldiers, instruct yourself and learn over how this conflict has root over the ages. And they may be over the top, but there is no better way to end a war and prevent another one that a good deterrence force, remember USA and USSR, there was never open war because they knew it would rip em apart. You don't go to war with who you know will take you out quickly

you have to consider how they have been blamed for the twin towers disaster and every other terrorist act, blamed for iraq, then iran throw in that they are testing for nuclear weapons which will reach israel. saddam had scuds which reached israel. If you were Israel how safe would you feel. They all have their own causes, they're own fears. They all have to want peace, but it has to come from all sides, not just one. Tolerance has to be a two way street, or it becomes one street setting themselves up for destruction. Self-protection, every country does it. It does'nt take much to make a country feel threatened and to bring to the fore their inner most hidden fears. Nothing to do with religion, it's psychology. The middle east is one huge psychological bomb. What I abhor is how easily they badly treat their own people. Muslim to muslim. Jew to jew. Christian to christian. Man to Woman. Man Child to Woman - for those who have'nt been to the middle east i saw little respect towards their mothers.

Your question does'nt raise hatred, it raises issues.

Ever heard of the straw that broke the camel's back? Israel has been under attack from day 1. If you are backed into a corner and kicked repeatedly, you eventually fight back. The last kick might not justify your response, but the first 3,000,000 do.
