ACNE

SYMPTOMS–Blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, inflamed and infected nodules, sacs, and cytsts. They occur where the sebaceous (oil) glands are most numerous: face, neck, chest, and back. Permanently expanded pores, as well as scarring, can result.

CAUSES–A sebaceous gland is located in every hair folicle, and produces oil which lubricates the skin. Some of the oil becomes clogged, bacteria multiply, and inflammation results. This occurs during adolescence (between 12 and 24), when androgens (male hormones) are released in increased amounts in both boys and girls. A few have acne all their lives. Other causes include junk foods, oral contraceptives, allergies, stress, and heredity. The problem is intensified when sebum, combined with skin pigments, plugs the pores and produces black heads. If scales below the surface fill with sebum, whiteheads are formed. Canadian Eskimos, prior to 1950, never had acne. When “modern foods” were brought in, acne became common.

TREATMENT–

Cleanliness is important. Keep the skin washed and clean. Keep the infected area free of all oils. Wash or pat the face with lemon juice 3 times a day. Shampoo the hair frequently. Eat a good, balanced diet, exercise regularly; and get adequate sleep at night. Drop all saturated fats from the diet, along with junk food, fried food, refined food, dairy foods, carbonated drinks, caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco.

Certain dietary deficiencies have been linked to acne. This includes vitamin B6, zinc, and essential fatty acids.

Increase raw vegetable intake. Eat pleanty of noncitrus fruits, raw vegetable juice, cooked vegetables, salads, whole grains, and a few seeds and nuts. Inclued some seaweed (for iodine) and pumpkin seed (for zinc).

Go on a short vegetable juice fast of 1 to 3 days, along with enemas. It would be well to do this every 2 to 4 weeks, until the skin is perfectly clear.

Beware of all oily foods which have saturated fats. This would include peanut butter, cheese, milk, and cream. A small amount of unsaturated vegetable oil would be acceptable.

Herbs which could be applied to the skin would include dandelion root, echinacea, alfalfa, chaparral, and red clover.

Blackheads must be removed, not with picking by the fingers, but with a specially designed instrument. Keep hands clean and avoid touching the face.

The cause is from your hormones. When you are a teenager there are more of them, as you body is developing rapidly. Acne forms when sebum (and oil substance that is completely natural) is secreted from you body and enters a pore, the pore can then become infected, thus causing a pimple or blackhead. many people will say that certain foods cause more acne, (sugars and fats mostly) which can be true, but I believe only if you are eating large amounts of them will is have much effect, small amounts will not have much effect.

As for clearing it up there are no certain remedies. There are multiple creams and such available on the market, I personal do not believe in using any of them, as the ingredients are not usually very healthy for you system. There are also natural remedies, though I have had little luck with them. The best remedy that I have found is time and exposure to the elements, being outside in the sun and being active.

Good luck!

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

A food with a lot of oil or high protein. For example Salami and chocolate will give you acne for sure.

Some of the creams and oils to prevent acne only cause more.

Noxzima is really good for fighting acne but sea breeze (I think thats how you say it it). Has a lot of alcohol and most of the time you will get more acne.

I suppose any food that might increase skin oils could contribute, but the real problem is sebum blocking pores and becoming infected - often with a corynebacterium causing inflammation, redness, soreness, and pus formation which
is an accumulation of while blood cells, predominately polymorphonuclear neutrophilic white cells that are valorously fighting to clear the infection. That is why antibiotics such as
tetracyclines that kill gram positive bacterial species can be
effective for inflammatory acne. If it is just "blackheads", it is more a matter of blocked pores with oily sebum - yuchh.
Clean skin and adequate sleep can help. Lack of sleep,
very common in teens and young adults, definitely contributes.

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.

The secret is never to touch the spots

Diet doesn't have much to do with it. (although eating healthy can't be bad for it, can it?)
acne is caused by oil in the skin, which bacteria are attracted to. The bacteria 'eat' the oil and clog up the pore where the oil is located and it fills with pus and stuff.
the best thing to do is wash your face and get an OTC acne wash, or if that doesn't work get a dermatologist and he can prescribe stronger medications.
i use Differin cream and Rosanil wash, but they're strong prescriptions that can make your skin sting an peel and they take awhile to fully kick in, but overall effect is great.
sometimes it can look like the medications gave you more acne, but actually they are just getting rid of dead layers of skin and exposing the acne that was underneath the skin.

Greasy, oily foods can cause acne, the best way to clear it up is to keep your face clean, and use an exfoliating scrub should help. There are many products, non-prescription and prescription to help minimize the effects of acne.

All acne begins with one basic lesion: the comedo, an enlarged hair follicle plugged with oil, dead skin cells and bacteria. Invisible to the naked eye, the comedo lurks beneath the surface of your skin waiting for the right conditions to grow into an inflamed lesion. As the skin continues to produce more oil, bacteria flourish within the swollen follicle. The surrounding skin becomes increasingly inflamed as your white blood cells fight against the intruders.

Though all pimples start the same way, they can take many forms and may react differently for different people. Please note that the following guide is not intended to be used for conclusive self-diagnosis. These definitions may be used to help you decide whether or not you should consider seeking medical attention........
