where is the beach in the film shawshank redemtion / end of film?

where is the beach ???? in the beach scene at the end of the film.......ive read that its mexico is that true

so its either mexico or the virgin isles?????

how can we find out ???? which one is true ???? does ot have it on the credits

Zihuatanejo, Mexico. It is indeed a real place. It's on the Meican Riviera.

Yep - Dale is right. It was the US Virgin Islands - although it was meant to represent that place in Mexico that I can't spell.

Did you know that that final scene where they meet on the beach had to be tacked on at the last moment. Originally, the film ended in the same way as Stephen King's novella did - with Red on the bus "I hope..." etc. But the producers very correctly pointed out that viewers would be devastated if they didn't find out whether or not he found Andy.

I LOVE that film - do you?

I'm not sure where the one in the movie is, but the beach is in Mexico at the village of Ixtapa/Zihuatenajo. I've been there and it's a very nice resort town with lots of beaches.

Zihuatanejo, the Mexican paradise where Andy and Red go after prison actually exists. It is a tourist city in the Pacific coast state of Guerrero.

You mean where they filmed it? I don't know. the place the characters went is Zihuatanejo, Mexico - he tells Red about it before he breaks out.
