well....the k actually stands for kilo...so in ur case ur missing the other part...kb stands for kilobytes...but you must have a suffix with the prefix kilo otherwise its not even a word. but most likely their the same

well they are the same its just that some people and some websites refer to kilobytes as just "K"... like 128 k, 56 k etc...
