You are right after the Vietnam war the taste for was diminished. The same thing happened after the first world war when the US wanted to stay out of another european war.
As time goes on the misery inflicted by war is forgotten and the excitement over sending an expeditionary force here or there builds and when reality set in the fun if it all stop and there is just misery again.
It is amazing that after Iraq there is still a taste for starting another war with Iran,

No the US is not prone to war. But if diplomatic measures have failed over and over. Sanctions don't work and countries ignore mandates coming from the United Nations. What are you supposed to do??? Just say ok well no biggie... And let them continue to go on like nothing has changed. Diplomatic measures and diplomicy only work if you are willing to back up your threats with action.

America is like a teenager who does not know consequences and responsibility. We create, with consciousness of lack of, everyting that is happening to us. There is a difference between the love of power and the power of love and America is functioning with the love of power. Until we open our hearts and see and feel the pain of people around the world, there will be more hatred. C. S.

I think the US (meaning the gov.) wants to start war and make it seem that they are helping the country. They just barge in the country and making things a little worse...more bombings in the country.

It all depends on the particular leader, the circumstances and the political environment. You tell me, why did we invade Iraq with the suspicion of wmd's and not North Korea who has already launched several missiles?
