The world is not coming to an end, but life as we presently know it is. You're right, look around at all the signs. The great tribulation, as mentioned in the Bible, is probably getting very close. Then we can look forward to the return of Jesus to earth, to establish His glorious kingdom.

WWIII is no more the end of the world then WWI, or WWII. And the War on Terrorism is not WWIII. I have heard that coming from so many of the Neo-Con talk jocks that I had to finally stop listening to them. Yes, we are probably working towards WWIII. We will lose between 3% and 4% of the global population (something like 150 Billion people). We will be blown back some 200 years of progress. The political alignment will be changed to reflect the survival's needs. But the world, and humanity, will not come to an end. As a planet, and as a species, we will continue. As far as 2012, or Revelation is concerned, well ... let's just say there is a possible that some people could tap into the metaphysics of the temporal line, and see such events coming. Humanity has had a good run of things since 1 C.E. but civilizations disappear every 2000 years or so. As such we have come to a point of exhaustion on the direction we have been going. If you like, call what is about to come a reboot. I'd like to think I would survive what is about to come, but I am not sure I will. Those who are in the rural areas of the US will fair better, but as you may already notice, they are becoming more xenophobic, and colloquial, and not accepting of outsiders. So relocation is only possible with job security, and that is not happening in this era either. The whole neo-con thrust is to acquire as much as possible before this "reboot" or "culling" occurs. They don't want to share what little is left, and will not share what is left after events turn.
You might want to pick up a copy of Alas Babylon, it is set in the 1950s, but it does a good job at giving you some idea of what you can expect in rural America.

It's always been coming to an end... I mean that is inevitable. :)
But if you are asking 'do I think this is the beginning of Earth's destruction at a quicker pace?" The answer is yes.
What do I think... I think that I can say up to this point that I lived during the best of times on Earth. I lived during a time when I had air conditioning and heat at my finger tips; overflowing food in the stores; could just toss a plastic plate in the garbage; etc...
But those days are now coming to an end. Did you know that plastics are made from petroleum? Can you imagine not having plastic? Hard to wrap your mind around it.
These days are also ending because of this massive war coming. Us Americans are so niave. We truly believe that we are just going to be able to walk over all other nations. And if we fail then we are suppose to just nuke them like Hiroshima. N.Korea is pretty damn smart if you ask me to want nuclear weapons.
I fully expect that some country somewhere with some nuclear weapon that we dont know about is going to get us. I really do.
Anyways, I am off on a tangent. Yes it is coming to an end sooner than we expected.

dont buy into the revelations scare crap. there is ALWAYS going to war, especially in the middle east and the caps are going to melt because thats what ice does.
do you watch the history channel or read any of the bible history and arceology books? the wrod "apocloypse" is a type of WRITING. over time it became associated with the end of the world. 666 also corrosponds in the greek alphabet to the emperor caligula. I always thought revelations was nothing more that the world's first op ed piece, written about the evils of the roman empire. think of it like a modern editorial protesting the current war in iraq.

I think the world is changing, global warming, alot of separation of church and state issues have come up, and of course there's war all over and with Israel having a war of her own, I think everyone should find religion in a hurry. I heard a politician on the radio say today we have to learn to put people before politics, lets see them do it. I also think we're getting closer to a One World Government than any one wants to realize.

No, not for a few more years. The Bible in the Book of Revelation says: "if I had not cut short the days of my return, all life would have been lost." So its not so bad, that mankind is almost extinct. After all, we're still over 6 billion strong.
