I really hate them also. I cry if one touches me and I freak out if I see or touch or walk into a web. I wish I didn't react so badly.

I wish I could suggest something to help you; I'm still looking for a way myself. I seem to go through stages of being not so bad and then bad again.

I don't mean to offer little hope but I don't think I will ever totally get over my fear of spiders but what I try to do is not worry and just deal with each situation as it arises, even if it's getting an understanding person to remove the offending creature!

Hypnosis can help, but it only really covers up the problem rather than solving it. Plus, hypnosis, can unravel over time so your fear could come back. Your best bet would be to either take small steps to aclimatise to them or use hypnosis only to 'dampen' the fear itself and let you to work through the rest on your own.

Overcoming a fear yourself will do more for your confidence among other things in the long term when compared to hiding it.

get hypnotised!!!!!!!!!! otherwise stick with the fear, i have awful fears e.g walking over a bridge.. i get so dizzy and cant breath, but i still walk it and when i get to the other side, i feel better, .. think about it logically, a spider cant harm you... you can do more harm to him! you have the upperhand over him.. he's just a little animal.....!!! now i dont have a fear of spiders but i certainly wouldnt touch one... so if you dont want to touch it dont, but think about what little harm the spider is doing to you, he's on the wall.. he's not goin to run after you... your not going to touch him.. so theres no need to worry!!!!!! thats how i manage to get over the bridge.. i think about it and i rule out all the negative things that can happen and think about how close i am to the other side and concentrate on walking, if you can do the same, it should help!!!!!!!!!!!! best of luck

Freud said that spiders represented the woman....do you have a good relationship with your Mother???....think of the spider as female....she is a good Mother...she is very clever...she is sweet & fluffy...she is kind...she dosnt want to hurt you at all...try holding a small money spider first of all...go to you local zoo & ask for advice about your problem....you can cure it if you want to...I had this problem when I was younger...it made my life a misery..have you a friend who likes spiders or indeed all insects....good luck to you...

The best way to overcome any fear is to understand your fear. If you have arachnophobia then you should look up information on them and learn as much as you can about them to demystify what you fear most. Read about them, maybe watch a documentary on them. That way you don't have to actually see or touch one in real life to accustom yourself to your fear. If you know which ones are dangerous and which ones aren't, then when you see one you'll know which ones to be afraid of and which ones are harmless.

Spiders are great. Each spider eats several times its body weight in insects every day. We'd be living in a swarm of flies and up to our ankles in bugs if it wasn't for spiders.

Spiders are our friends, well, except for the deadly poisonous ones....

When you imagine a spider through your thoughts, try not to avoid thinking about them.
If there is real threat of spiders around you then, you should take an appropriate action.

Get a referal to a psychologist. They will probably give you cognitive behavioural therapy but they gently build up your exposure to your fear and desensitise you to it

Good luck
