Yes, I think Vanilla Ice broke the ground on that trend ( a little bit!)
Then, came the 'pants', the 'walk', the 'gangsta act', if 'they' really did grow up in the 'hood' and struggled along with their 'brothers', then I might be able to accept it, a little more, but, most grow up in middle American in the 'burbs' and just think it's
cool. *Vince Vaughn's character in the movie "Be Cool" is a very good example of how ridiculous 'they' look!

Yes and no. It has nothing to do with there color or who they are trying to be. Its more when you are trying to act like another culture You for some reason are also being obnouxious. on a grand scale. What I think it is also is Respect. these people Not all mind you tend to lack respect for others. they think that being obnoxuous is Fun. And Treatning viloice is also fun. I also find. At least in my experence. These "posers" tend to come from Weathy Familes. Not all but in my experence they do. Where the closest thing to a TRUE Gehtto is the "not so clean mall" on the other side of the suburb. I grew up in a VERY VERY huge HS. that had a lot of Differnt minorites and these "posers" where always a sourse of conflict with the true minorites. They say them as being insulting. but I do i think its flattery in some ways (just need more respect for others) also I find that becuase a vast majority of these "posers" come from ether Weathy parents or Middle class they Lack the culture of some of these minorites. African amercians and hispanic and asians and others I cant think of (dont feel left out) have VAST Culture and VAST history. where Middle amercia white people dont. We are new here (comparitive) and besides ruleing the country politicly white AMERCIAN people lack the hisory and culture that many minories have.

first of all they arent acting black.. all blacks dont act.. the way you are referring.. they are acting..street..ghetto or gansta.. a behavior..only a small percentage..of black teens..use..believe it or not. it is like valley girl..or surfer dudes.. not all white boys and girls act that way. in any case... i dislike anyone not from that culture acting that way. however some whites..from the streets..ghetto or gansta.areas..are being themselves actually. it is not a black thing. but i know a lot of young blacks..that if they acted that way their family and friends would be confused. and wondering what had gotten into them. but i understand what you are asking. i wondered the same about some white girls..who date blacks.. talk in a way they seem to think all blacks talk. rolling the head.. talk to the hand.. and other slang..that is exaggerated. this applies to the gay community.. some gay men take femininity to a different level. i have never seen a woman talk..walk... or dress..the way some of the flamboyant gays do,. so you see this was a better question than you thought

In some way the black culture has lead America “cool” for the last 100 years! Many of the words we use were first spoken in the black community first. Words like “cool”, and “man”. I am a white guy, but have to respect black culture for bringing us rock and roll, soul music, and many trends!
Now it is rap, and looking like ghetto. I don't get it, but them I am older now, and have fallen behind! I am not “cool” anymore!
I really try not to hate anyone!

I hate it with a passion! Everyone should have thier own identity not try and fit into other people's. Especially here in Britain we no longer know what it is to be British, so we try to adopt other people's cultures and nationalities. Be yourself people and don't be so bloody concerned with what you think everyone else thinks is cool!
Watch 'Kids' an American film, it's a prime example. Two main characters are white etc and act like thier latino friends. It's a shame to see, they look ridiculous and in a way mock the Latinos.

No cause look at Eminem he may be white but he's into the urban culture not the so called acting "Black". Now those people who try to be urban and are picking at it I don't like that. but being urban doesn't really mean it's a "black" thing either.

It depends really. If they are just doing it to look cool and don't actually know any black people then yes it is silly. However it isn't always a choice, I used to hang around with black guys and mixed guys and picked up how they spoke just as you pick up any accent or dialect. In that case it's understandable as it can't be helped.

I think young people from all races should be made aware that Ali G is in fact a p**s take and is done for comic effect. I'm sure that once these hitherto inteligent people experience the power of self awareness, they are quite likely to be horrified at themselves. Or more likely not give a t**s.
