Im not normally impressed SOLELY on vocal talent.
Usually the person needs to be able to play and instrurment
or be an awesome entertainer before I consider talent
an aspect. Song writting also fits into the equation but
so many singers dont write thier own music. Anyone
can sing a song but very few can actually write!

However if I must view vocal abilitiy as a talent then
it must be incredible.

One such person is Sarah Brightam , she has
opera range but she can also tone it down
when she wants to very good i think.

My tastes also flutctuate from year to year, sometimes
month to month. I have always been a fan of
Ben Harper. He has a very interesting vocal quality
his voice almost sounds broken and sad. He is also
an AWESOME song writter, absolutly phenominal
and that really helps his case.

Without a doubt THE most skilled singer (objectively speaking, Bob Dylan is my favourite, despite him being a 'terrible singer' he is the BEST at using his voice) is Maynard James Keenan, of Tool and A Perfect Circle, and sometimes parts of Rage Against The Machine. (He does that excerpt of Know Your Enemy, he sings on two covers, "Calling Dr. Love" by Kiss, and "Another Brick In The Wall(2)" by Pink Floyd, alongside Tom Morello playing Guitar, and Brad Wilk on the drums on one of the song) He is one of the few singers who can easily sing in 3 or 4 octaves. He also can sing different genres of music, from agressive funk rock, to progressive rock, to rock n' roll, to country (listen to Maynard's Dick), to his own 'progressive metal', to altern rock... etc... He always leads with his vocals, the instruments, and the other musicians no matter HOW talented, always take a back seat when this man is singing... and sure he looks like he molests little children, but that doesn't mean that he does (in public anyway)... He is without a doubt, objectively speaking the greatest singer ever. This I am saying whilst Bob Dylan being my FAVOURITE singer.
