Oh yes...I have the best Sad/Romantic series of all time for you....The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. They are somewhat long books...but they are just so lovely...the story is just beautiful. Take my word for it...you wont be able to put it down. And the best part is...there are six books in the series!! I'm on the last one at the moment...and I'm trying to move through it very slowly in hopes that a seventh will come out. Enjoy!!

Try the book, Tryst by Elswyth Thane. Here's a quick plot summary:
"You will find yourself reading this one over and over. The plight of these out-of-sync lovers and the resolution is very touching. It has many moments of light humor, wonderful descriptions of England in that period and well-developed characters. Treat yourself to this wonderful book."
Ms Thane's descriptions are perfect of the young girl's fascination with the forbidden room in their rented country house and of Hilary Shenstone return from a premature death. The characters and situations delight the reader. The romance touches my feelings with each rereading.

'Memoires of a Geisha' by Arthur Golden. Hugely evocative of Japan with a heart rending central love story.

'Rebecca' by Daphne Du Maurier. A gripping read as well as a poignant love story

'Pride & Prejudice' by Jane Austen. Fab!

'Katherine' by Anya Seton. The story of John of Gaunt's third wife. Based on the truth with lots of historical detail.

Enjoy!

Although it is a classic, I had an awful experience while reading The Mayor of Casterbridge. "If you're a human, read it at least once in your life." This was a comment I found somewhere about this book by Thomas Hardy.
