It could be!
Usually the tongue will swell to about 2" thick making eating very difficult for a few days...... lady friend of mine couldn't talk for almost a week, and was taken into Hospital at one point!
If the Tonsils are involved, then you HAVE to go to see your Doctor!!!...... Hey, and make it a priority as swelling could also affect your Breathing!

After I got my tongue pierced I never had my tonsil swell go to the doctor
