I was brought up to believe that my opinion counts for something. I'm really starting to think that it doesn't.

If you live in the UK it means nothing anymore. The only opinion that matters is Blair and the EU. It is no longer our country and as such opinions are of no value.

Yes and no.

Yes, because the President (for example) isn't directed elected by popular vote. He's voted into office by the electoral college.

No, because in local or state elections (including congress) the candidates are elected by popular vote.

Overall, while we may vote a candidate into office, he or she is often subject to the "rules of the game" which precludes changing the political system. Incumbant politicians don't want to change the "old boys" club and when newly voted in politicians come in wanting to "make it honest" the find they can't get anything done, committees stall their efforts, and the changes don't really come about.

I think also we should change the law and make sure that when this politicians do wrong, public has the right to hang them till...........

In order to give your opinions weight you need a 'structure' behind you i.e an institution, website, company. Or you have speakers corner in Hyde Park. To challenge the Status Quo, one needs power to be taken seriously!

Yes. But do you have a better alternative? I don't think there is one thst works. Politicians tend top become corrupt after a while.

Welcome to the real world, we only think as you did when we are young and can conquer the world. Give a few more years and resignation would be more appropriate.
