To start with you have to have a plant like a sugar cane. Boil it and let it dry as said above scrape it off the bottom and you have sugar. Or you can get a few chems and mix your own sweet and low.

The best way is to just get some honey at the store or the like and use it as sugar. I guess you could build a bee hive if you wanted. The pros can do it cheaper than you can by far so just buy the product and get it over with.

This is like growing your own garden. It cost you 300 plus bucks for a tiller and then 100 bucks of water and then you have to kill the bugs and the weeds and then the cow poop or what ever to mix in the dirt. So it cost you 500 to 600 dollars to grow a few tomato's an few pickles and some string beans. When you could have just bought everything you grew for under 100 bucks at the store. Will take you till about your 15th year to get your money back. Remember you have to buy gas, fertilizer, seed, water, Bugs and weed killer every year. Dang the tiller wears out every 5 years. Might never pay for it's self.

May as well just get a job and and be productive.

Sort of like making candles. You have to dissolve a lot of sugar in water, making a very concentrated solution. Then you pour this solution into a container which is rather narrow and tall. You suspend several strings or threads in the solution by tying them to a rod so that they dangle in the solution. You sould also put a small weight on these strings so that they hang vertically. Then you wait for the solution to evaporate depositing sugar crystals onto the strings. You could hasten this by putting the whole shebang into a warm oven to speed up the evaporation.

Place some sugar solution in a saucer and leave it for a few days so the water can evaporate. You will get nice crystals of sugar.
