It is now no longer necessary for men to be part of the reproductive process due to scientific advances. Therefore, are men necessary for other reasons? If so what are they> Would the world be a better place without them?

Cloning technology WILL improve and they will even invent artificial wobs. These will inevitably be applied to humans, starting first in some obscure country with few or no controls. Personally. however, I feel men are useful over and above their contribution to procreation. I think children are brought better with both male and female role models and, at the risk of being unpopular, I just think men and women need each other. They are complimentary in their roles and interactions. All this despite women coming into the paid workforce more.

Hi Ingognito, I've reported Breadwinner on your behalf, and also on mine because man do I not want to read that sort of thing. I'd say that men do run the public show, but women run the back-of-house, and neither are indispensable in the patriarchal social construct which exists at the moment. This is a very general statement, but if you look at the pop'n. of the entire globe, it bears out on average. And yes, I went round and personally asked them all. I would also say that all the wonderful scientific and technological advances men have made as a gender are what is going to wipe our species - and heck, all the others we're meant to be looking after - off the face of the planet - but hey ho, at least now we have Yahoo Answers, toasters and giant casinos while we're waiting! Yay! Oh yeah, and war. Having said that, there are lots of men out there who are almost as good as us. And come on, you have to admit they're decent entertainment!

I also read the article in the papers and disagree. Regardless of reproduction(suprisingly not the entire point of existence) each gender has different roles they are suited for in society. The real reason for this kind of view is from the common stereotyping of men due to the traditions instilled by the various religious groups. Also such scientific studies can never be truly answered, as research groups will sway the results to suite their views.

Men are very necessary. When God created the world, who did he make first? Adam. The system God set up with himself, men, and women is one that puts God at the head, the man next, and then the woman. In a marriage relationship, the male is directly responsible to God for the decisions made in the family. If the woman sins and the man knows about it, yet does nothing, God will not only hold her responsible, but also him. Reproduction is not the only thing men are good for.

And yes men are still needed to reproduce. We still need their sperm to penetrate the egg. So, whoever told you that men were unnecessary is wrong.

I hope we are still necesssary! I'm sure my wife would miss my love and attention and also her dinner every night! She'd miss the house getting cleaned the kids getting to school and the washing getting done. etc If you think us guys are unnecessary then I think you need to look at how the world is changing. I'm all for you ladies getting a head in life and making a bigger mark on the world. I'm sure it will be a better place. I mean us guys have been handeling things for awhile now and we've not made such a great job of it, so maybe it's time you girls had a go!

Diversity is good.

We could quite easily use a ewe for a surrogate womb with todays technology. But, the world would be a poorer place without women,

Although their husbands might be richer, only joking.

They are nice to look at, hug, kiss and all the rest of it...

Could you honestly imagine a world full only of women and all the raging hormones that come with them? There are also a lot of jobs that men are far better at than women.

If it wasn't for my lovely husband, I wouldn't be able to be at home looking after my kids so of course I'm going to say, they are necessary and I would hate to be in a world without them.

I think men are necessary. Who would we shout at when we are angry?

It's better to take everything out on a man than fall out with your best friend.

Hey, I just made up that quite. I think it's quite good, if I do say so myself!

Sorry, but men are still needed for reproduction. They produce the sperm no matter how it is delivered. Besides, if it wasn't for men, what would we women have to complain about?
