This is a real thought provoking question, so here are my thoughts.

Personality is like a trait, but it has the biggest part dealing with who you are. I think God makes us in his image. Saying that, I believe, but can't say for sure, God made our appearance the first thing you see so people would get over their judgemental attitudes and stereotypes - just a guess. For example, there could be an ugly person and people just thing - they're smart, they don't know how to have fun, who wants to hang out with him/her? They could, in reality be an average student, goes out on the weekends to have fun w/ his/her friends, and is just a fun and energetic person to hang out with. I hate this more than anything else about teens (even though I am one), they judge you by your appearance, not your personality and try to do what's cool rather than what's right. Now, I know everyone, including me has judged people, but I can tell you I do it a whole lot less than most people and I believe I don't judge people now - a whole lot less anyway. I know this adult who's a bit overweight and doesn't have a job, he can't get a job though because people judge him off his appearance, not his intelligence or personality. He's a great guy. He knows how to have fun. He can do math in his head extremely fast. His mind literally works faster than a calculator - SERIOUSLY... I think he does better when he's on a phone interview because people can't judge him by his appearance and he only got laid off of his last job because their supervisors and leaders of the company lost like 5 billion dollars in another country which makes me furious. People can be so ignorant.

Models and movie stars make me mad. I'm from Texas and those big shots from Texas act like such morons. They're so stupid and in movies, they represent Texas like an old wild west place even though we have interstates, highways, cell phones, trains, buses, great schools, home computers, 50 story buildings, a lot of good stuff. I don't know if you've noticed this, but it really ticks me off. Movie stars, etc. only give money to their charities because they'll get a minute in the spotlight (oh, you're so generous, thank you so much)... The only reason they give to these big shot charities is so they'll become more famous and most of them don't give money anonymously. They almost never donate to the small charities. That makes me so angry. Movie star personalities don't even resemble the modern, middle-class citizen. They think if they don't have their mansion and their servants, they're poor. I wish America could just be perceived as what it really is to others, not what rich people want it to be perceived as. Personality will never be swept off by movie stars and models. I hope there are still some people in America that don't judge you off of your appearance, but off your personality.

I've noticed that you never see a overweight man with a thinner woman - almost never... You also almost never see a girl who's taller than her boyfriend / husband. That goes to show you how obsessed we are with appearance in this country. Why do people think that if you care about peoples' personality more than their appearance, you're ugly? I look at it like this - You can see through the stereotypes of people and get to know the person as they really are, you don't view them the way that our modern society stereotypes them.

I don't think that humans were made to see the apperences first. I think that being in the world we are today that everyone depends on their apperence instead of getting to know the true person. Personally what I look for in a guy is in some parts the looks, but a guy or girl can be beautiful but also be a complete jerk.

Humans weren't made that way. The attraction to physical appearance is something learned. Guess who's teaching us? TV, advertisements, even radio. Believe it or not, there are people out there who care about the inside, not just the outside. I don't know when/if our society will ever force that sort of change on the media so that the whole USA can relearn how to think about people as minds and personalities and not just bodies. However, it can be done on a small scale. Church is sometimes a good place to find people who care about the inside of you.

Because god wanted us to learn that you must see through an appearance of someone. He wanted us to realize eventually that you cant judged people on looks or what we wear or how we walk but on the person inside. It was a lesson he wanted the human race to learn. It is a gift to be able to get to know a person based on who they are and not what they look like. Plus it is a big thing, when you show you can do that, then you have really grown up.

I think it is a shame that we look only at the physical. Yes models and movie stars are partially to blame but then again we are genetically motivated to look for the best person to pass our genes to. I do think movie stars and models do influence what people think is sexy instead of listening to there instinct.

We , being Adam and Eve,only saw our nakedness after " we", sinned in the Garden of Eden. Since that time ,we as people, have judged everyone , from a physical point of view, first. Then we look at other attributes.

Because though we are human, we are still animal underneath it all. And a strong drive we have as living beings is to reproduce. So, the first thing we notice about others is appearance as our instincts strive to improve our gene pool.

It's the only thing that you can sense immediately. Of course, that isn't the most important thing, but to learn about personality takes considerable time. It is hard to imagine any other way that things could be.

Meet a guy on the internet and don't let him see your picture.

Get to know him before accepting a date. If he is ugly go anyway because they are the nice guys.
One guy was so nice on the internet and when he saw me walked away and said, you'r not seriously dating me are you?
I said not if you leave, come on you asked me lets go.
He is my current boy friend. Personality matters

Of course the first thing you SEE is going to be physical. You can't SEE a personality, silly.
