3 Easy Steps to Check it out

1.Try to Increase ur Notebooks Brightness Function key (FN) + F8 or First Decrease the Brightness Function Key(FN)+F7. (Basic Troubleshooting)

2.Connect the External Display (a Mointor) and Using Function Key(FN)+F4 Check the display in External Monitor if it is Fine Then system Board is Fine (Secondary Troubleshooting).

3.Try to Refix the Display Panel Cable and move the display panel up and down the Display Panel(Sometimes the issue can be Sloved ) if u know how to do this.

Finally we came to Know the Backlight of the Notebook is gone .Take it to a Service center they will Replace the Display panel .

To isolate the issue you need to connect the notebook to external monitor and check.

Check if the external monitor display is fine after connecting it to the notebook. If it is fine then it is sure issue with the display inverter.

If it is dim on external monitor then try changing the brightness in the Operating System itself or try reinstalling the display driver and the OS.

Sounds like the CRT light or invertor is failing, is't not a job for a beginner to fix, take it to a good independant PC repair shop - not PC world. Don't take any crap like it needs a new screen, it can be fixed if it's the CRT.
