It all depends on what type fish you like. Go to liveaquaria.com or a site that has a lot of fish, find some you like and then reearch to see if they are compatible. I have a 55 gallon with kubotai loaches, a red tailed shark, a blue gourami and some rasporas to make an Asian biotope for example. It is just what you want. Cichlids are very popular for medium\large tanks. If I were to do another I would make a South American biotope - have angels, a couple bristlenose, and a black ghost knife.

it all depends on your personal preferences. the biggest thing is to get fish that are compatable with each other. you might want to try some dwarf cichlids, if you are prepared to take care of them and deal with their tendencies. if you want something easier, go for some tetras or some livebearers. you can also try to experiment with some other cool fish. for example, put sand in the bottom of the tank and get an eel, or a blue lobster. its all up to you, there are a million different ways to populate your tank. have fun!!

if you have a fresh water 75 i would get some easy to take care of fish like neon tetras or congo tetras and some bottom feeders like cory cats which look very pretty and they help with the cleaning of your tank. what ever you do, dont get a red tailed shark. i had one and it killed off my other fish.

There's a lot of factors and variables to decide.
For instance, how much time you have to take care of them, your budget, etc. But I'd say get some cardinal tetra, and some other tropical fish. Don't get too many at once, though. That will cause an ammonia imballace, killing them all.

a nice planted tank always looks good with alot of small colourful tetras and dwarf cichlids.
there are alot of ways you could go though so good luck with whatever you decide.
