Should there be some law in place for him to have equal say?

I don't think a father should be able to force a woman to have an abortion if she does not want to. I do think that a father should have a right to keep a woman from aborting his child if he wants to keep it and raise it.

I think it would be difficult to have a law in place for this. Just like I don't believe there should be a law abolishing abortions because it is a private matter - the decision to have or not have an abortion is a private matter between the father and the mother. It's not for the government to decide these things...it's up to the individual, because there are so many different factors involved in a decision like this.

Before the child is born, it is part of the woman's body. It's preposterous to claim that a woman must carry a child against her will. So, no, I don't think men should be able to prevent their wife from having an abortion.

It is also preposterous to force a woman to abort her pregnancy against her will.

I'm quite afraid fathers must be at the mother's mercy until the child is born. Men can avoid this trap by using their own contraceptives (condoms), or by not having sex. Women can too, but they're stuck with the baby after the fact.

After birth, the child will need the support of both of its parents. So, even if the man wanted an abortion, he could still have used a condom. He will have to help support the child.

Kind of a bummer for us men. But we're not stuck with the child on our bodies.

Men do not have the right to dictate what a woman does with her body. If you are unfortunate enough to have gotten a woman pregnant who chooses to have an abortion knowing you want the child, then you chose the wrong woman. Next time be sure the person you choose to sleep with holds the same morals you do.
If you want her to get an abortion, and she wont. You dont really have a say in that either. The best advice is dont have sex unless you expect a child to come from it. It can happen to anyone.

I don't agree with a law in place for that, but I do think women should consider the male's opinion in this matter, especially if they are still planning on being with him afterwards. I think it's a decision both of them should make because they both had a part in it happening to begin with. The law however, like I said I don't think so. I don't know how you would enforce that either. It seems like it would just be the man's word against the female's.

in a great..perfect world... there would be an easy answer to this question. but it is not a perfect world. so it is my opinion that once that sperm leaves his body..he has lost all rights.. in the abortion issue. not the same once child enters world.. but until then... sorry. the woman does the housing and carrying... the woman is the one needing medical care... the woman is the one with the morning sickness.. stretch marks.. etc. in the past the woman had to leave her job... and the woman had to find the baby sitter... i could go on and on. but nature made it unfair... not me. so no there is no such thing as equal partners..unless the woman agrees.

There is no easy answer for that question. Perhaps we should consider making sex between males and females illegal until they can provide for themselves and any offspring that may or may not be forthcoming in their union. Then we could take it one step further and dictate how many children they can produce together. That leaves the government and law enforcement in charge of personal choices. So where do you draw the line?

People say it takes two to make a baby, a man and a woman, so if that is true (which it is of course!) and this country preaches equality why shouldn't there be equal say from both!!!

Abortion is wrong. If you get pregnant, then it is your own fault, and it was you who was being irresponsible. If you get pregnant, then you should have the baby. Men are half the problom, so yeah, they should probobly have an equal say, but if they say that you should get an abortion, don't listen to them. Amen!!

yes... he should be able to declare to his partner in advance of birth, pregancy or abortion whether or not he intends to support any children produced by their relationship.

that is what roe v wade granted: the right to say you were not yet ready to have children. it is only fair to extend it to the guys in the least intrusive way possible.

The male should only have equal say if they are married.
