Angel
by Sarah Mclachlan

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there

so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

"Highway Song" by Blackfoot.
It's a song that I could listen to anytime, anywhere.
The song starts out smooth and easy with great acoustics.... and then begins to build...... and build..... and build........ until finally the drums beats increase.... the vocals hit the high notes and the lead guitar takes over..... faster and faster. You can actually lose yourself in this song.... close your eyes and let the music take you back a few decades.... to better days..... when rock and roll encompassed everything. When you could actually "feel" a song within. It's the one of the best 7-1/2 minutes you will experience. If you haven't heard it.... download it....I promise... you won't be disappointed.

Another one of Blackfoot's songs is "Train". It's awesome, too.

And of course, an honorable mention would go to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven".

HIGHWAY SONG
(Rick Medlocke / Jackson Spires)

Blackfoot

Another day, another dollar
After I sing and holler
Oh it's my way of livin'
and I can't change a thing

Another town is drawing near
Oh baby I wish you were here
But the only way I can see you darlin'
is in my dreams
It's a highway song
you sing it on and on
on and on
Yeah the hurt you leave behind
Is the hurt that's on your mind
Oh and last night suretook it's
toll on me

Well the city lights fly by me
As I lay my body in my bed
And dreams of you flash through
my head
It's a highway song
you sing it on and on
on and on
Highway song
it's as long as
as the road I'm on
Yes these big wheels are ready to roll
We've been flyin' high I'm so low
And all in all this madness
Ain't as crazy as it seems

Everywhere they stop and stare
I'm just a stranger on this road
I stand alone only in my dreams
(repeat chorus)

The Who - My Generation.

It has one of the most powerful basslines ever, the entire song is complex, but not overly so. The song lyrics sing about teenage angst and stuff, and it's considered the first 'punk rock' song, not to be confused with the punk of today, but I mean like 70s and 80s punk and proto-punk. It showcases the talents of all 4 musicians very well, especially Mr. Keith Moon the drummer, and John Entwistle, the bassist. It's catchy, and complex. It's not one or the other with this song. It also just sounds good, and is one of the most inspirational song ever for the bands that inspired the bands that play today. (IE: Most punk artists were inspired by this song in their early teens, some of them would go on to become MC5, Minor Threat, The Clash, who would later inspire bands like Rage Against The Machine, who would later inspire most of the good musicians in the past 6 or 7 years.)

Wasted Sunsets....because it is beautiful

Wasted Sunsets
(Blackmore/Glover/Gillan)

The day is gone
when the angels come to stay
And all the silent whispers
will be blown away
And lying in the corner
a pair of high heel shoes
Hanging on the wall
gold and silver for the blues

One too many wasted sunsets
One too many for the road
And after dark the door is always open
Hoping someone else will show

Someone is waiting behind
an unlocked door
Grey circles overhead empties
on the floor
The cracks in the walls have
grown too long
The slow hand is dragging on
afraid to meet the dawn

One too many wasted sunsets
One too many for the road
And after dark the door is always open
Hoping someone else will show

As far as rock, I like "A Hard Day's Night" by The Beatles. For a working man, there's nothing better than coming home to a loving woman.

If you include instrumental music, "Rhapsody In Blue" by George Gershwin. A unique mix of jazz & classical musica styles, inventive, and with a dramatic climax.

I like Lithium cuz this amazing female rocker (Dilana) on Rockstar Supernova sang it. Anyway, I had always liked Nirvana anyway, but her doing such an kick@$$ job on that song made me go back and start listening the Nirvana album again and I can't get that song out of head now. Kurt was amazing.

"I'm so happy cuz today I found my friends...they're in my head"

Stray Cat Strut by The Stray Cats.
A song and band by the same name-that is awesome. Besides that, I have 3 stray cats.
