no, it's just like any other tv show.
would be like me asking you if bill cosby show was a true reflection of black families or if some other show with blacks is a true reflection of black friendships.
tv is not real. it's entertainment. all caucasions are not alike.
assuming they are is stereotyping.

Who ever said it was supposed to be a "true reflection of caucasian friendships?"
No, these TV shows are not the spokespeople for Caucasians of the world. That IS what you were getting at, right? Correct me if I'm wrong.
In assuming that these shows play that sort of in our society, do you also assume that 2Pac and "the Jeffersons" play an equally rediculous role in representing black America? Do you watch military movies and think that's what military life is all about? Maybe you should start watching the news.
Seriously, you should think about how you view the world and consider the possibility that you tend to make judgements based on rediculous assumptions.

It reflects some friendships I've had, but not all. I'm a sarcastic person, so I'm a good mixture of MOnica and Phoebe from "Friends" so I can be caustic or ditzy with my friends. I've been know to pay for my friends' coffees or loan friends money. We've had people over for Thanksgiving where not really great private truths become public.
And I've known a few "Barneys" (How I Met Your Mother) in my time... I usually don't hang with them. And I've never really gotten into any of the situations depicted in that show. It's more "I Love Lucy" than "Friends" was.
Now I'm interested... do other ethnic groups not have friendships like these shows depict? Are all African American/Black friendships like on "Moesha" and "Girlfriends" and "Barbershop"?
While all of these shows are "just TV shows," all entertainment has some roots in truth, regardless how we'd like to think they don't.

No more or less so than the Cosby Show would be a true reflection of black families...?
TV tends to show us an ideal of what we want to be true. Just like Leave It To Beaver, Happy Days and those shows weren't indicative of real life, neither are the shows of today. They make money by promoting stereotypes that make us laugh.

I used to watch Friends, ages ago, and I don't know how good a reflection it was. There may be a close group of friends who keep up with eachother for a long time, but some of the other stuff is over the top...for TV....

i don't have a TV but I can tell you that portrayals of whites on TV must be at least as accurate as the portrayals of blacks...do blacks really say 'Dynamite' (last time I watched TV was, maybe 1970 something).
Friendships are friendships. White, Black and in between there is a world of imperfect people doing the best they can.
Never use what you see on TV as a guide for what is actually happening in the universe.

No they are not.
It's kind of like saying are the shows Good Times or the Jeffersons a good representation of what African Americans are like.
People are people, some with have similar likes and dislikes as you regardless of race. Others will never see eye to eye with you again regardless of race. My feeling is ignore color, treat all people with a general level of respect, unless they do something to lose that respect and be friendly with whoever is willing to be your friend regardless of race, color or creed.
Best of Luck to you.

No. Every friendship is different and unique. To say one show depicts every Caucasian friendship cannot be true.
This is called stereotyping.

No, it's not. I always wondered if "city people" are like that, tho. People act different in different latitudes/longitudes. Now, "King Of Queens" is pretty close to how married couples act, I think. LOL, just kidding. I just can't stand "How I met Your Mother". What kind of parent would tell their kid those stories? There is no talent in Hollywood anymore with these writers, I tell ya.
