i bought my pc last year and it's a windows xp(sony), i hav two drives for dvds and stuff like that, i also hav different drives for memory sticks and other data saving devices, but i just cant find the drive for floppy disks, so is that mean i cant use a floppy disk?
the downloading question, when u r downloading things onto a mp3, do u just stick the memory thing into the drive and start downloading. i know these questions r stupid, but I NEED SERIOUS ANSWERS PLEASE!

For some unknown reason some new computers are no longer fitted with 3½" floppy drives as standard, but have DVD or CD burners instead. Having said that it is a fairly easy thing to put in, or even to buy an external one. Way to check is to go into device manager see if it includes a floppy disk (usually a: or b:) Can also see what My Computer lists. And yes, just stick it in and wait for all to copy across. SOME MP3 players have an icon activate in XP to "safely remove hardware" (appears on bottom right of toolbar looks like little green arrow over a graphics card, may be better clicking that then just yanking it out.

Yep, nowadays floppy disks have become things of past. I bought mine two years ago and I had to specially request that they put the Floppy drive in the computer. So, if you didn't request to have a floppy drive installed that means that you can't use floppy drives on your computer. I would suggest using Jumpdrives; they are pretty cheap and can store hundred times more data than a typical floppy drive. But if you are really dieing to use floppy drives, you can buy floppy reader from the Best buy or something. They'll cost you about 50 to $60.
And I don't really know much about the Mp3s but you seem right the way you explained.

Yes my son has one of them mp3 players. If the PC recognizes it as a drive and the format is supported by the player. Make sure the download is directed to whatever drive it has been called.
A lot of the newer Computers don't have floppy drives anymore. If it does have one but XP doesnt see it then theres something wrong with the drive itself.
Hope these help thank god for a son who understands computers a bit :)

..thats weird..all computers have a floppy disk drive. but maybe since floppy disks are kinda old now, they prob just think ppl only use dvds and cds to download stuff..
When u'r downloading stuff onto ur mp3, it has to say "downloading to device" and well the song isn't played on ur mp3 it prob didn't get downloaded onto it.

Most computer manufacturers stopped providing floppy disks a few years back. You could always buy one and install it yourself for about $10.
Yes, stick memory stick into port and the computer should pick it up. You can save to it.

Yes to both of your questions.
You can purchase a floppy drive for about $15 (US) if you really want/need one.

floppy disks are " technically " obsolete.....( they hold VERY little data according to today's standards )
but, if you REALLY wanted one...you could buy one at Comp-USA and install it yourself
