In order to divide fractions you actually find the inverse of the second fraction and then multiply. Example:

2/3 by 8/15

2/3 x 15/8 (inverse) Now multiply across:

2 x 15 over 3 x 8 or 30/24. Now reduce.

5/4 or 1 1/4 is your answer.

Hope that helps.

I'm not doing your hw for you, but I'll tell you how to do it.

Take the first 1... 2/3 by 8/15
All you do is flip the second fraction and multiply. So now it's 2/3 x 15/8, which equals 30/24, which reduces to 5/4.

I tell my students that it's generally best to first convert any mixed fractions into improper ones (number on top and a number on the bottom) because it makes it easier to handle.

To convert mixed to improper, you multiply the whole number by the denominator, and then add the numerator to it.

When it comes to dividing fractions, the KEY is that you flip-flop the fraction you're dividing by, and then multiply.

So 1 / 2 divided by 2 / 3 would become 1 / 2 x 3 / 2.

To multiply fractions, you simply multiply the numberators together to get your new numerator, then multiply your denominators together to get your new denominator.

Example, 2 / 3 x 1 / 2 = ( 2 x 1 ) / ( 3 x 2 ) = 2 / 6, which could be ultimately be reduced down to 1 / 3.

Just take the inverse of one of them and multiply.
E.g.: 2/3 by 8/15 = 2/3 x15/8
