It depends on the name. All of those people who may have Bin Laden may want to change it, along with those who had Hitler as their last names.

good question... I don't think it ruins your families history but when I changed my name and now separated my family is still not used to calling me by the name. The are actually angry about it because of everything that has happened up till now.

I don't think it ruins or spoil your family' s history. I do think that it makes it difficulty for some family members to trace their family history, especially those that are not aware that someone in their family has changed his or her name. This can be especially true for "distance family members" who do not really keep track of everyone.

I think it changes your family history because now with a name change you become someone else. That includes when a woman gets married at takes on her husband's last name..

Well, since history denotes the past, changing the name of someone now can't really affect the past. It could make it harder for your future descendants to do family research however. Of course, now that so many records are computerized, they would probably be able to figure out who you were before and after the name change.

I have thought about changin my family name becasue it is foreigh and nobody can say it right, but I feel it would take away some of the romance, besides it has been changed once before making it really had to trace back.

if u are getting married no but just to be doing it yes. you were born into a certain family for a reason, to change that is not your choice, just like it would be wrong to change your gender God created u a certain way and gave u a name for a reason.

It can be a yes and no question.Because if you marry a bad person then that will mess your family name up.But if you get a good person you can be glad to let someone carry that family name on.
