This 1970's music piece is totally instrumental with no lyrics. Various horns and bass guitar are dominent; & periodically throughout the piece there is a sound that resembles a big spring being sprung.
Music style= fast paced funky/ rythem.

I would type "70's instrumental hits" into Google.
Are you sure it's from the 70's?
Is it Rock? Funk? Jazz? Surf?
I just found this on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000003387/102-8087775-1629703?v=glance&n=5174
From there, you can listen to samples of every song from Volumes 1-4 (#5 is surf music)

Could it be "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winters?

I'm just gonna throw a retarded bone here, and say "The Ox" by The Who, or The Who - Dogs (Part 2), or The Who - "Overture"... The Overture being most likely?

If it has lots of Bass guitar, and horns, it's gotta be The Who. Well that's just my line of thinking... also is their drumming of sorts going on that is fairly intense?
