Fog and mist are both composed of minute water droplets, the same as clouds but at ground level. The difference is only in intensity, fog reduces the eye-level visibility to less than one kilometer (by international definition), mist does not.

Many people confuse mist and drizzle, mist droplets are suspended in the atmosphere, drizzle droplets fall.
