I am a soldier stationed in Iraq, and I am trying to set up an internet network. We dont have vary many cables, so I decided to make some. I have cables and a bag of the connectors, the only problem is, is that I dont have a crimping tool! Can it be done manualy with a tiny scew driver? If so, how far down should the brass pins go down? Also, should I make straight cables or crossover cables> which are faster?

You could do it, but you are talking about a lot of time. Make a straight through if you are not going from pc to pc. You will frustrate the hell out of yourself trying to do it without a tool. Good luck,
