I have been having tem off and on for 2 months now but today is the worse. They have been shooting up my calves for hours (about 5 now). My legs feels like they feel like they've been beaten.

From having experience with my wife when she was pregnant, the charlie horses are somewhat normal that far into your pregnancy. You are carrying a lot more weight and putting extra strain on your leg muscles and they are just letting you know.

I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet and legs and get charlie horses all the time up the backs of my legs and in my hands.

With the legs, as soon as you feel one starting, take your foot and move your toes so the point up toward your knees and do it as fast and as hard as you can and hold it there for about 30 seconds until the charlie horse passes. It should pretty much stop it in it's tracks, it does for me.

If hubby is around you can have him put your toe end of you foot toward your knees for you, it might be easier, but he has to be quick and catch it as soon as it starts or it won't do you any good.

I hope this helps you, I know how they feel, when my legs are acting up, I will get 6 or 7 of them all in a row in both legs. Not fun.

Good luck and congratulations on the baby.

I'm sure that even though you may be on prenatal vitamins, there still may be a slight vitamin deficiency in your body...basically the baby is robbing your vitamins. Normally the number one cause for cramps in the calves is a potassium or sodium deficiency. Try eating some bananas, drink gator ade. I'm almost positive this is the problem. If the baby would be resting on some arteries in your pelvis, then your legs would feel like they're going to sleep, instead of cramping. Best of luck to you and your baby.

My TWIN sister I had very different labors. She had her baby a week early, had a 38 hour labor, 4 degree tear and passed out because she lost a lot of blood. 4 years later during my labor, I had to be induced because I was a week late, my cervix got stuck at 6 cm after about 18 hours of labor so I had to go with a c-section. Very different huh?

you need someone to give you a good massage in the legs each evening or morning. if that is not possible there are certain yoga moves that can warm you up before you get out of bed. youll find that in this article and more on yr pregnancy that can help you out.

YOur baby is resting on the big vessels in your iliac which carry blood to your legs. Put your legs up to get more oxygen carrying blood to your legs.
