Do other things work in the USB Port?
Try the flash drive on another computer.
You may need to remove the flash drive from device manager.

1. plug in the flash drive
2. right click my computer
3. left click properties
4. click hardware
5. click device manager
6. look for your flash drive listed, most likely it will either be something with a yellow questions mark or a red exclamation point next to it.
7. right click n that and remove it.
8 restart your computer ( for good measure)
9. find drivers for your flash drive and isntall them
10. plug you flash drive back in.

I had that problem at first when I started using one. It ended up that my computer was too old and could not read the drivers for it. I swaped to a newer computer.

Try wiggling it around or use a different USB port. :)

open "My Computer" see if it shows there. If not then I suspect you have onlyUSB 1.1. You will need to buy a USB 2.0 card.
