well, firstly because some of them have really long noses ..
and then as they cannot solve their own business they tend to feel better by trying to solve others' .. not a good practice though!
again, there are people who think they are being concerned and showing they care by trying to poke their nose into the things you dont want their nose into .. simple!

Because they have no real friends, and like to stir up things for other people. I know someone like that, she starts every sentence with "Now..." . She must know everything that everyone is doing. Then she spreads it around. It makes her feel important to be in the know about everything. Her own life is so pathetic, so she takes a morsel of information, puts her own negative spin on it and then feels smug. She is a real jerk.

Because they have no compassion for the human race.

People like to feel important. They are 1 either trying to help thus making them feel important or 2 helping themselves feel better by not being in such a bad position as the person with the problem.

People like to look at themselves and say about themselves that they are not like this or that...and sticking their nose into another person's business gives them that sense. Human nature is just like that: always trying to find something to validate ourself and put another down, that's whey they are so nosy......

There are alot of very unhappy people out in this world of ours. and if they aren't happy they can't stand to see anyone else happy so that is the reason that they but into your life to make you as unhappy as they are or to ruin what ever good that you have going.. tell them to go away and leave you alone.
file harrassment charges on them just get them out of your life as quickly as you can.. no good can come from being around them..
