this isnt an easy question...
okay....
There is one of two ways of doing this:
OPTION #1
Click Start>help and support
In the Search Bar: Type: System Restore
Then Click on: Run System restore in Safe Mode and follow the instructions
This will only work for XP Pro or XP Home.
OPTION #2
Use the disks that were includes with the system you bought. You should have a set of Disks that came with it in order to restore it if needed.
And Call the technical support for your computer type. (dell, hp, apple, etc)
Or as an added option email me at Irreplaceably_rare@yahoo.com If those options arent working for you I will explain step by step, possibly over the phone.
Thanks.

Going to restore will only restore you OS to the point you restore to but all the other data and garbage will still be on your hard drive. Tommy Trouble gave the correct answer - the only way to completely clean things up is to reformat. But I just wanted to emphasize YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON YOUR "C" DRIVE! So save anything you want to keep to some other drive or medium first.

Depending on your computer's manufacturer.... You MAY have a RECOVER OPTION (Such as F10, F5, etc) on your Boot UP screen which will restore your computer to the NEW state it was in when you bought it, or you may have RECOVER Disc\s that came with your computer.
NOTE: You will LOSE ALL FILES and ANY PROGRAMS you have installed since you bough the computer!

You have to go to a restore point. It varies with each computer manufacturer where to access your system, but if you have a Dell you can go to Dell Support or look it up in your users manual.

"Re-Format" your hard drive and re-install all your software.
You will lose all of your data if not "backed-up" on another medium.
The other methods described will leave traceable data on your Hard Drive.
